I am going to walk you through a system I use, a rather simple one: all equipment fits on a stillage 0.6 x 1.2 x 2.0 meters. You can place it in the room or at the balcony. Also I am going to descripe a simple DIY grow box just in the case you want to grow a NORMAL size tomato: they are usually about 2 meters tall, so stillage is not an option.

But first, let's take a look at a stillage, as a generic solution:

Hydroponics scalable solution: stillage 0.6 x 1.2 x 2.0 meters.

This is a strong and - if you keep children away from it - reliable model. In theory you can use 2 (like in my case) to 4 shelves, but lamps I use are too powerful, so reducing the distance between shelves is not a good idea.

All my containers are placed in a shoe tray just in case something leaks.
